Saraki’s claims on plan to arrest Dino Melaye false – Police

The Nigeria Police has picked holes in the states by the Senate President Bukola Saraki on the siege mounted to ensure quick arrest of Senator representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye.

Recall that will Saraki, in a statement, had stated the law enforcement did not submit an invitation notice for Senator Melaye to the Attendant of the National Assembly.

But the Force Spokesman, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood on Mon revealed copies of the letter associated with invitation sent to the Clerk, the particular medical report of the injured Officer and pictures of the officer to act as proofs.

The notice to the Clerk dated 23rd This summer, 2018 was signed by the Office of Police, Kogi State Control, CP Ali Janga.

The letter was received for the 24th of July 2018 by office of the Clerk of the Nationwide Assembly.

It says in part: “ This office will be investigating a case of Criminal Conspiracy theory and Attempted Culpable Homicide documented against Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial Region Zone.

“ You happen to be kindly requested to inform the mentioned Sen. Melaye to report to the particular Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command through the undersigned on Thursday 26th July, 2018 at 1100hrs to assist Police analysis. ”

The healthcare report of the injured Police officer, Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, from Federal Healthcare Centre, Lokoja was signed upon 31st of July, 2018 simply by Dr . Aduloju F. A for the Consultant-in-charge of Cardiothoracic Surgical procedure Unit.

The Police managed its operatives with a duly acquired Warrant of Arrest deployed in order to arrest Senator Dino Melaye in the residence in Abuja will not escape until Senator Dino Melaye gives up himself for arrest and analysis.

Melaye is needed by the Police for a case associated with Criminal Conspiracy and Attempted Culpable Homicide, committed on 19th This summer, 2018, when Senator Dino Melaye and his armed thugs attacked Law enforcement personnel; shot and wounded Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, attached to 37 Law enforcement Mobile Force (PMF) on quit and search duty along Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi State.

On Saraki’ s claim, the Police said: “ The claim by the Senate President within the Media that the Police did not post a letter of invitation towards the Clerk of the National Assembly is usually therefore incorrect as can be seen upon attached letter with acknowledgment stamps of the Clerk, National Assembly, Abuja “ 24 JULY 2018“. Regardless of this, Senator Dino Melaye bluntly declined to report himself to the Law enforcement till date. ”

Moshood also said the Police Official is yet to recover from the gunshot injury he sustained during the assault and still under intensive medical care within the hospital.

The Push also said it will ensure a comprehensive investigation into the matter to ensure the principle of law prevails and that simply no suspect no matter how highly placed, involved with any criminal matter escape proper rights. ​
