Ijaw youth commanders from the nine states of the Niger Delta region have challenged Leader Muhammadu Buhari to probe several ministers from the region over supposed non-execution of federal projects granted by his administration.
According to the youth, the projects posted by President Muhammad Buhari as part of their administration’s achievements, while commendable, are usually nowhere to be found.
The particular leaders, under the auspices of the Ijaw Unity and Peace Committee (IUPC), lamented that some of the projects shown as Buhari’s achievements in Bayelsa State, for instance, are not in the condition.
They threatened to undertake massive protests against the “diversion associated with projects”. The leaders particularly mentioned projects awarded to Bayelsa underneath the Federal Ministries of Agriculture plus Niger Delta Affairs were not getting implemented.
In a declaration made available to newsmen on Wednesday within Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State funds, Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei, the convener of the group, lamented the underdevelopment in the area, stating that there were persons inside the presidency working against the present management.
Kemepadei, who is furthermore the leader of Egbesu Brotherhood, stated contrary to claims that there were countryside road projects in Bayelsa included in Buhari’s achievements in the Niger Delta, nothing of such could be discovered anywhere in the state.
This individual also said claims by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs that this Federal Government constructed a cassava digesting plant in Bayelsa were fake and misleading.
“I seriously think President Muhammadu Buhari is not aware of what is going on in Bayelsa State because what the Presidency detailed as part of its achievements in the Niger Delta is just a figment of somebody’s imagination, ” he said.
“It is only in the press that we read of projects granted to Bayelsa by his management, but in reality this is not true. All those representing Buhari in the state are usually deceiving him; they are not reporting the real situation of things. We have absolutely nothing to show as benefits from the present organizations. The agricultural loans, fertilisers, countryside road projects, empowerment schemes, granted by Buhari to Bayelsa, are certainly not being effected. There are no called Bayelsans that are beneficiaries of this kind of programmes.
“This is not just painful, but wicked. How can Buhari be awarding to projects, liberating funds, yet nothing is happening?
“It is on this remember that we are bent on staging this particular protest. We want the Presidency to keep yourself informed and discipline whosoever that may be mixed up in diversion of Bayelsa projects. The particular date for the protest will be revealed very soon. No individual has the monopoly to cart away with general public properties. ”
