FCT, Rivers Win Beach Volleyball Occasion At National Sports Festival

Group FCT and Rivers have earned gold in the male and feminine Beach Volleyball event at the continuing National Sports Festival in Abuja.

Group FCT beat Team Kaduna 2-0 (22-20, 23-21), while Team Streams beat Team Kaduna 20 (21-15, 21-13) at Jabi Lake.

Team Delta won Group Borno 2-1 (21-19, 19-21, 15-8) and Team Lagos beat Group FCT 2-1 (20-22, 21-18, 15-10) to win a bronze honor in the 3rd  place match.

Reacting to the victory, Streams State female coach, John Iwerima, attributed the feat to effort, dedication, discipline and support through the state government.

He mentioned, “ I am happy with the effort from the girl because they were the most liked during the tournament. The gold honor is as a result of a positive attitude in order to training and the ability to take modification.

“ The state federal government has always supported the girls and am cannot forget to mention their golf club side (Nigeria Customs) that force them in good shape throughout this year. ”

Meanwhile, the coach from the Kaduna female team, Abubakar Sodiq, expressed displeasure over the loss.

Sodiq said, “ Girls played better against Lagos within the Semi-finals; FCT and Plateau throughout the preliminary. I think the girls were anxious playing against experienced players. ”
