2019: Ezekwesili, Bakare to vie for presidency

Buhari, Bakare and Ezekwesili

Nigeria's former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, and also founder of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, are set to join the race to contest the 2019 presidential elections against the incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari.

This was revealed by Pastor Bakare while he was talking at an yearly liberty rally labeled"That Is My Nigeria" that happened in the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos on Monday.

"Incidentally, my sister Oby is stepping in to politics now, she's going to contest for the office of the president, and I am awaiting October 7 to throw into my cap, so we are able to crash the whole system and begin to need for a new Nigeria that people deserve," Bakare said.

While Ezekwesili hasn't formally declared to operate, she's been a vocal critic of the Buhari-led authorities and recently explored the idea of linking the race with her social media followers.

Pastor Bakare, also a vocal critic of the present government, had previously declared in January 2018 that God wants him to run despite his strategy to quit politics for good, pulse.ng. reports.
